BIBLIOGRAPHY OF ROBERT COBB
Hello, my name is
Robert Cobb and this is my website. Although I am dust, and purpose to know nothing but Jesus Christ and him Crucified, this
is a little bit about me: I was born in Port Hueneme, California in 1954. My dad was in the navy at the time and we lived
on the navy base my first year or so. Dad got out of the navy after his four year hitch and we moved back to Texas which is
where dad was raised.
I attended grade school in Arlington and Garland, Texas and graduated from Garland High School
in 1972. After attending North Texas State University in Denton, Texas for a couple of years, I transferred to the University
of Texas at Austin where I completed a program in Geology.
While in college I began to seriously seek the Lord for
help with school and other matters. The Bible does say that “they that call upon the Lord shall be saved.” At this time,
the Lord Jesus gave me a boldness to stand up in front of people and do a presentation which I previously could not do. He
must have removed some amount of fear from my heart.
After college, I got a job with an oil company working as a Petroleum
Geologist. During this time, I started looking for a church home as I thought this was necessary to be a Christian. I attended
several churches and finally settled on Word of Faith Church in Farmers Branch, Texas. This began about a twelve year journey
through the charismatic wilderness.
I indoctrinated myself in charismatic teaching as much as I could, having been
taught at Word of Faith (WOF) that this was seeking the Kingdom of God. I attended WOF Bible College, was a home fellowship
attendee, became a home fellowship Leader and had several certificates from WOF Leadership classes.
When I married
my first wife, Pat, in 1992, I quit attending Word of Faith. For church we stayed at home and listened to Kenneth Copeland
on television. In 1994, Pat passed away with breast cancer. After Pat died, I still listened to Kenneth Copeland for my “church”
until God had mercy on me and revealed the Gospel to my heart through an Apostle..
I never heard the Gospel taught
while in the charismatic wilderness. Mostly what was taught was the Law of Moses in Jesus Name. There was no revelation of
the gospel.
I met my present wife, Mele, while out dancing one night. It was not long after that that we begin listening
to Doyle Davidson on television. Doyle taught us that the Gospel is that Jesus died for our sins, He was buried and that God
raised Him from the dead (I Cor. 15:1-4). When God reveals the gospel to your heart, it will open up the New Testament teachings
of Paul. Thank God. We started attending Water of Life in Plano and God has been changing our hearts as we yield to the truth.
Our goal is to obey God and to be conformed to the image of Christ Jesus.
